Mrs. LaPierre demonstrates tablet mode

The Technology team has been working hard behind the scenes to prepare and deploy new Dell 2-in-1 devices for each student in the 2nd and 4th-grade classes. Two truckloads of Dell laptops arrived earlier this month with pallets of new devices for our 2nd and 4th-grade students.  These new tablet devices replace our current T-Series Lenovo and Yoga 11e Lenovo laptops. Our first new device deployment was Friday, November 5 to Mrs. LaPierre’s class in Rogers’ Middle School. Dr. Richards and part of the tech team were there to witness the sheer excitement pouring out of each classroom. One student was so excited about the new touch screen and exclaimed, “I am never typing on the regular keyboard again!”

We’re quite excited we were able to work with district leadership and our instructional staff to replace aging laptops that were assigned to “extended use” due to hybrid instructional needs brought about by the COVID pandemic.  Getting these laptops deployed to students during the academic year involved significant contributions from many parts of our organization, including our high-school-based student help desk and our BOCES partners.  We’re looking forward to continuing this deployment to get new laptops into the hands of all our 2nd and 4th graders.

Each 2nd and 4th grader will receive a new device, a new charger, and a new protective silicone sleeve with their name on it. We will be deploying to the 4th-grade classes at both Rogers and Iroquois middle schools first as they currently have the oldest devices in the district. We will then tackle each 2nd-grade class in our six elementary schools.
